My name is burnt.ear, and I also go by jaoreir, or 焦耳 online.
I'm a Taiwanese software developer who's going to Australia as an international student.
I started as a Unity C# developer making interactive media, and my current goal is to become a backend developer!

VR earthbending

I play a 1v1 VR fighting game called RUMBLE where you summon rocks to throw at each other.

It is a physics based VR fighter with extremely deep tech and strategy. You can even fly by pulling yourself upwards using rocks :D

It also has one of the most positive gaming communities I've ever been in. Definitely check it out if you happen to own a VR headset!

forever Minecraft

Modded minecraft is kind of like my personal journal. I have a personal modpack and the same singleplayer world I've been playing on since Oct 2024, currently at around day 1800 in game.

Since I've started the world, it has accumulated many memories from in game and real life. Many builds in my world are based on my real life experiences. I also have a bookcase full of journals about my personal life serving as snapshots of how I got here.

Some mods I particularly enjoy are...

Exposure

This mod adds photography to the game! I love taking pictures of cute animals, weird things I come across, and my newly constructed builds.

Via Romana

A mod that allows you to fast travel (teleport) after building physical paths between locations. This way, players are gently encouraged to build infrastructure and connect builds together.

Farming mods: Farmer's Delight, Kaleidoscope Cookery...

These mods provide many new crops to plant and meals to cook. Many food items from these mods are also placeable in the world, which is great for interior decoration.

Touhou Little Maid

This mod adds lively companion NPCs that walk around the world and can do work like players. It's great for automating certain parts of the game without building industrial machinery. They also serve as active props in my builds. (I've employed Rumia as a barista in one of my cafes.)

Create

Create is used to automatically generate items and blocks so I can focus on making builds. Its trains are also cool, although I do find myself being frustrated trying to squeeze train tracks between preexisting builds.

I used to make a lot more music back in 2014~2023, but I ended up struggling with perfectionism and slowly drifted away from the hobby.
